Over the years, viewers have observed Netflix's increasing fondness for period dramas, with the streaming platform consistently delivering fresh content. When Bridgerton premiered in 2020, fans were captivated by its portrayal of the intricacies of love and rivalry in the Regency era. However, amidst the elaborate narrative, attention swiftly turned to Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton for their portrayal of Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton, as their journey from friendship to romance is about to begin in the upcoming season. 

With anticipation building for the third season with all eyes on exploring this romantic storyline, Coughlan, however, has issued a special caution regarding the intimate scenes involved this season.

Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton, while diligently preparing to revive the beloved 'Polin' romance for Bridgerton's upcoming season, also managed to shine a spotlight on their chemistry off-screen during their recent promotion in Bowral, Australia on April 21. Speaking with The Project TV at the event, when the reporter jokingly inquired about the intensity of steamy scenes in the upcoming season and whether they were suitable for viewing with one's grandmother, Coughlan gave a light-hearted caution, "Please don’t watch it with your Nan.”

Luke Newton humorously chimed in that they do not really watch it with their nans, so that is a no-no. Coughlan, on the other hand, jokingly added a what-if stance stating if one were to give their nan “a Baileys beforehand, then maybe she’d be fine”. However, both the actors added that they do not prefer watching the show with their families since even Coughlan’s mom chooses to skip a chunk to avoid the intimate scenes. And given this season will put the limelight on the two, the warning could come in handy.

As the pair grabbed eyeballs at the event, several questions came looking for answers and one of the main topics Coughlan touched upon was how she built the chemistry with Newton.

At the event, a TikTok clip shared by Elle, explained Nicola Coughlan’s take on her budding romance with Luke Newton in Bridgerton that will be highlighted in the two-part third installment. Coughlan focused on their friendship of “five years” to break the myth that all she had to do to build the chemistry was to stop trying to “repress it” and that way, all the missing pieces fit the puzzle.

She said, reflecting on their “journey together” that it has been “amazing” because they felt like toddlers in the initial season. However, she did not let slide the chance to express her excitement to the crowd regarding this installment, as she even posted on Instagram about it. However, with her joking caution, fans now know what to do when preparing for the binge from May 16, and sharing the screen with grandmothers is definitely not the thing to do for starters.
