As reported by Redanian Intelligence, the first release date for The Witcher: Blood Origin was expected to be between May and August 2022, but as time has passed, that doesn’t appear to be the case. Netflix is looking for an October 2022 release date for The Witcher: Blood Origins according to the same source.
There isn’t enough evidence to prove that show will indeed release in October. However, if that doesn’t happen, the December release date is always there. And we all know how much Netflix likes to release their highly anticipated shows like The Witcher during the holiday season.
The reason for the supposed delay is major re-shoots. Sadly the re-shoots have also reduced the episode count of the show. The series’ episodes will be reduced from six to four owing to heavy editing.
It’s difficult to imagine why this route was taken or how they’re intended to produce four episodes out of six by wiping away enormous portions of information based just on fantasy. But there might be a silver lining to the re-shoots, after all.
Jaskier will be included more in the series

One of the things they did during re-shoots, according to Redanian Intelligence, was to incorporate additional scenes with Jaskier to tie Blood Origin more closely to the main series. From a logical standpoint, there may be interludes between episodes and scenes.
However, this information is not confirmed by the streamer or show creators. Thus, The Witcher: Blood Origin may end up being a simple prequel without Jaskier scenes. Guess, we will just have to wait and watch.
