No one was expecting Netflix to hit the mark, owing to its previous series of underwhelming manga adaptations. To everyone’s surprise, it did justice to Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece. One could attribute this to the original makers’ involvement behind the scenes and the makers’ efforts to heed his advice. This strategy helped the series scale new peaks because, as per reports from Giant Freakin Robot, reaching the number-one spot in 84 countries in just 96 hours. Not just that, it has beat some of the most popular Netflix Originals.
Defeating Stranger Things and Wednesday, the Netflix series earned the title of the best live-action anime adaptation ever made. Apart from this achievement, the series also has an IMDB rating of 8.5, making it a part of the top 200 all-time list. Seeing such an overwhelming response from the audience, there is a high possibility that the series will see a second part very soon. After the huge production budget of $18 million per episode, the second part, if made, would likely cost around $150 million USD.
The viewers picked up a major hint from that, leaving them hopeful for a second installation of One Piece.

Considering the series just arrived on the OTT giant, it is hard to get any confirmation from the makers on whether there will be a second season. Maeda, the showrunner, told Variety that the making of the first season was a “bear”, owing to the baseless allegations the makers had to clarify just before its release. Even though the maker was quite restless, he still gave the fans an inkling.
Towards the end of the first season of One Piece, fans saw a mysterious figure with ash gray hair and a Monkey D. Luffy poster in hand. Fans speculated that the character is none other than the marine officer, Smoker. Addressing fans’ questions regarding the mysterious figure, Maeda told Variety, “I don’t want to confirm or deny at this point”. However, One Piece director Marc Jobst expressed his desire to return to the set of One Piece. During the promotions, Jobst told The Streamr that he has interesting ideas for season 2 if Netflix gives them a green light.
