We have never been closer to the release of Netflix’s highly awaited Avatar: The Last Airbender adaptation than we are now. The live-action series wrapped up filming almost a month ago, and ever since, new updates have been pouring in—all the updates, which include casting calls and cast additions, point in one direction. The series is going to be different from the original show.
This certainly makes fans a little skeptical of the upcoming Netflix adaptation, but that might not be the case. Changes are thought but sometimes necessary. And it looks like the new addition to Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender might benefit the story after all. Let us see how.

Netflix makes necessary changes to Avatar: The Last Airbender
Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Netflix relaunch will have four Avatars, which will enhance Aang’s journey in the series in a unique way. With Daniel Dae Kim’s appointment as Fire Lord Ozai and countless other elements, Netflix’s Avatar appears to be planning a completely fresh take on the show’s tale. As Avatar fans continue to wait for Netflix’s much-anticipated live-action revival of the franchise, one new piece of information might be quite informative.

Aang’s training to master Water, Earth, and Fire constituted the foundation of each of the three seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Nickelodeon, with the young Avatar needing his complete Avatar bending powers to halt the Fire Nation’s assault on the planet (Fire notably coming last for Aang). Avatar on Netflix will certainly focus on the beginning of Aang’s training, but he’s unlikely to master all of the components in the first season. The inclusion of Roku, Kyoshi, and Kuruk is favorable to the Avatar reboot in this regard since the three can most immediately ease Aang’s exposure to the aspects that are unfamiliar to him.
Aang’s training to control all four elements was central to the tale of Avatar, and it seems likely that Netflix’s Avatar revival will do the same. By including Roku, Kyoshi, and Kuruk as prior Avatars with important roles, the series might give a fresh take on how Aang initially becomes acquainted with each element.
