Close on the heels of Rebel Moon–Part One: A Child of Fire, landing Zack Snyder once again to critical divisiveness, Netflix has released the official teaser for its second part, Rebel Moon: Part 2 — The Scargiver. Bringing back Sofia Boutella’s Kora, the trailer showcased a grand unraveling after the events of the first movie. Incidentally, while the first built upon world-building, part two would expand on an all-out war with the Mother World and glimpses of it adorned the teaser.

The 2-minute teaser had signature Snyder effects including artistic blur, slow-motion, and exaggerated emotional synopsis. Scheduled to land on April 19th, 2024, the second part teased a climactic conclusion to the grand space opera. A few brief glances at strikes befalling on the farming moon of Veldt also appeared in the trailer.

Djimon Hounsou’s Titus rallying the village for a showdown with Jimmy, warning about an inevitable showdown, highlighted the tense tone. The stage remained set for a likely climactic clash with the Motherworld as Admiral Noble returned as Dreadnought. The spotlight on Kora begged to showcase a reason for her title as the Scargiver and weave a tale of love and survival in one of Snyder’s no-holds-barred creative outings yet.

Released on December 15, the first part of Rebel Moon, with a budget of around $80 million, earned its place at the top of Netflix charts. However, it landed at a bleak 23% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.8 on IMDb.

At this point, it is no secret that Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon share the same universe. Rather, Zack Snyder will only release a sequel to his zombieverse after the entirety of the two-part space opera. Speaking of which, an R-rated Snyder cut of Rebel Moon standing more than an hour longer than the current version will also land alongside the second part. The approach would ensure fans’ engagement and interest in the longer run.

Meanwhile, Netflix has hinted at doubling down on the space flick after gauging the success of the current one. A “trilogy of sequels” appears to be the word-of-mouth in the steamer’s quarters. Along with the zombie franchise, Zack Snyder may likely continue to produce animated and live-action spin-offs that would allow the streaming giant to keep tapping into the director’s massive fan base over the years while also building it up simultaneously.
