In the history of Netflix, not many shows have gone on to command the chokehold and fandom that Stranger Things boasts. The long-running sci-fi fantasy has had fans grow up along with the cast as they meandered through the Upside Down plot. Slowly building up on its fan base and popularity, the show peaked in demand as it logged viewership records and several accolades to its name. Now, after a gripping fourth season back in 2022, fans are longing in long breaths for the concluding one to drop. Now, after a flurry of delays, there is an update.

In a fortunate alignment of stars, some sort of shooting confirmation has finally made its way to the fans.

At a time when fans of the Upside Down show are taking to stage plays and books for original content, fulfilling news has come forth. Nearly a month after the SAG-AFTRA strikes receded, several Netflix shows have found themselves with fresh updates. Now, as per a fan page on X (formerly Twitter), confirmation has come forward that shooting for the final and fifth season of Stranger Things will resume in January 2024. Despite being late by months, the shoot has received priority and fast-tracked for completion.

The news comes close on the heels of its cast member, David Harbour, revealing that he was called on to the sets within ten minutes of the strikes ending. Meanwhile, the upcoming season holds umpteen importance, as it will reveal the fate of several characters at the helm. Alongside a climactic showdown between Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven and Vecna, the ending may also bring forth the possibility of any spin-offs in the making.

Millie Bobby Brown already has two projects, Damsel and Enola Holmes 3, lined up with Netflix while one alongside Chris Pratt in The Electric State also stands for a 2024 release.
