Netflix Shares the First Crew Picture of ‘Stranger Things’ as Season 5 Starts Production
Netflix’s Stranger Things has finally begun filming its next season today. Over a year after the fourth season arrived on fans’ screens, today the OTT mogul announced via X (Previously Twitter) that the cast has reunited to kick off the shooting phase of season 5. The monochromatic image shared in the post showcased almost every cast member huddled together for what seems to be an initial reading of the script.

The Duffer brothers stood in a corner alongside Sadie Sink and Finn Wolfhard who held a manuscript in his hands. Meanwhile, Millie Bobby Brown and Noah Schnapp sat across them on the couch with beaming smiles along with Joey Keery, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Winona Ryder, Maya Hawke, and other cast members. For fans of the sci-fi thriller, this news has come as the perfect start to 2024.
The events of the last few weeks had been foreshadowing this very moment for a while.
Stranger Things recent production and location updates
Over the last week, the fictional town of Hawkins in Atlanta, Georgia has been buzzing with movement. Some images of the sets began emerging on X (previously Twitter), with the latest set of clicks showcasing trucks pulling into the compound. In the online domain, fans were sure that the series was nearing its next stage of production.
Last month, the company that manages the casting in the show began inviting people to apply for minor roles. They emphasized the need for actors with a medical background and men who would be required to dress up for special effects. It seems like the show is recruiting armies for its final battle to ensue in the Upside Down.
Judging by the comments of the show’s creators and directors, Season 5 is looking to be the most epic.
What can fans expect from season 5?
Last year, one of next season’s directors, Shawn Levy disclosed that season 5 will be as grand as some “of the biggest movies” with “major cinematic” filmography. Then another director, Dan Trachtenberg hinted at the same saying that “the last two episodes” will feature the “big battle” everybody has been waiting for. He also mentioned that the rock and roll vibe of the show will carry on season 5 too!

Stranger Things’ creators, Ross and Matt Duffer revealed that the upcoming season will see major twists as Will Byers takes the spotlight from Eleven. This meant that the final season was going to feature various twists and loyalty shifts. Meanwhile, fans are going berserk spinning theories as to how the riveting show will culminate.
