Netflix Set to Bring 2 of the Greatest War Series to Streaming During the Toronto International Film Festival 2023

Over the years, Netflix has slowly taken its place as the biggest streaming platform in the world. With around 238 million subscribers worldwide, it is no surprise that the media company has to regularly up its game. Netflix is known for producing brand-new fresh content for its viewers. However, the streaming giant has mainly created its reputation by giving fans a variety of different genres.Even though Netflix has something for everyone, it has managed to let a few of the greatest films of all time slip through the cracks.

But the streaming giant seems to be correcting their little slip.

Netflix is adding 2 limited war series to its library

Just like Netflix, who recently dropped a new surprise trailer, has obtained other movies before, earlier this year in July, news broke that they signed a deal with WB. Discovery to add a few HBO limited series to their library. What began with the release of Ballers is being followed by two more series, Band of Brothers and The Pacific. These will be added during the Toronto International Film Festival in September, according to What’s on Netflix.

Apart from being on HBO, the series are both centered around the lives of soldiers during World War II. They were even considered the greatest war series to ever be released, as they were based on true stories. Having been taken from the memoirs of a few different authors who all served in the 1st Marine Division.

But while some are already huge fans of the mini-series, the younger generations might be a little confused as to why this is such a big deal and what the shows are even about.

What to expect from the two mini-series coming to Netflix

While the films might not have many similarities except for being an HBO and war series, they were both extremely praised and recognized when they first came out. With almost a ten-year difference between the series, it is surprising that they are both held in the same regard.

Band of Brothers first came out in 2001 and garnered a ton of attention due to the mere fact that it was created by directors, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks. It also helped that the cast was filled with well-known names. The mini-series was so good that it bagged both an Emmy and an Oscar. On the other hand, The Pacific came out nearly ten years later in 2010, and was nothing short of an absolute stunner. The mini-series was adapted from the memoirs of two different authors and focuses on the story of Marines navigating their way against the Japanese in the Pacific theater.
