Netflix Set to Bring a Classic Animated Series to Streaming During a Busy Month of June

June 2023 could end up being one of the best months that moviegoers have seen in the past years. This month already kickstarted with the beaming success of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Fans have a plethora of films to look forward to that will grace the silver screen soon. This includes some of the most anticipated projects of the years that have sent the internet into meltdown several times. Yes, we are talking about The Flash, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and Pixar’s Elemental. And amidst the hype of these releases, Netflix is expanding its list of classic animated shows.

According to What’s On Netflix, the streaming giant is adding the first and second seasons of Tom and Jerry on their platform. This is the title that revives all the childhood memories of 90s kids. The animated cartoon depicts the antics of a cut who endlessly chases a clever rat. Considered one of the greatest shows of all time, it has an inevitable place in the hearts of viewers.

Over the decades, this show garnered cult followership, making it a global phenomenon for generations. Originally, the series was produced as a competition for Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse, in 1928. The achievements of this show are something incomparable considering it has completed more than 82 years on television. And now one of the biggest streamers is launching it on June 12 among other classics like Shaun the Sheep and Oggy and the Cockroaches.

Aside from bringing back some of the classic animated works, Netflix also has some major releases lined up later this month.

June has indeed proved to be one of the strongest months for the anime genre on Netflix. The month has lined up some of the big releases and return of the fan-favorite shows. Firstly, we have Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, an upcoming anime based on the manga series by Yūki Tabata. The film will be exclusively released worldwide on the streamer on June 16.

Next in line comes Skull Island, a new anime series that will expand the Kong and Godzilla cinematic universe. The first season of the show is scheduled for release on June 22. Last but not least, the third installment of Pokemon: Ultimate Journeys will be arriving on June 23.
