This time, the OTT giant is back with not just any movie but a prequel to the spine chilling 2017 horror drama Verónica. So hop onto this ship if you are not planning to go trick-or-treating this year.
Netflix adds new title to the Halloween watch-party list

The official page of Netflix on X, formerly Twitter, recently informed fans that Sister Death has arrived on the platform. The streaming giant brought this supernatural drama in the peak time when people were gearing up for their final Halloween moment. Directed by Paco Plaza, this movie will take viewers back to the beginning of it all which happened in Verónica.
The movie is set in the 1940s, when a novice named Narcisa gets appointed as a teacher in a convent operating as a girls’ school. Soon after she settles down in the place, she starts experiencing paranormal activities and has nightmares. The film has received positive reviews from critics and viewers. Jesse Hassenger of Decider approved the prequel, deeming it to be “an efficient and well-made horror picture”.
The review aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes gave an approval rating of 78% which is favorable. So gothic fans certainly need to add this movie to their watch-party list. However, what was Verónica all about?

Verónica is a 2017 Spanish supernatural drama that follows the titular character who conducts a séance using an Ouija board, along with her friends. The protagonist’s desire to reach out to her father somehow leads her to a demonic spirit that starts haunting her. Looking for answers, the girl visits back to the basement where it all started and the school’s elderly blind nun whom the students call “Sister Death.”
The nun revealed the séance linked her to an evil spirit and tried to compel the spirit to leave but failed. And where this attempt leads would put viewers on the edge of their seats when they stream this film too. It is also available on the platform and fans can watch them one by one to understand the connection between the two more closely.
