Netflix’s streaming phenomenon is such a delight that it often sparks observation and curiosity. Although the streaming frenzy calls for seasonal and festive reshuffles, Netflix plays the streaming game by trend. Amidst the flood of new premieres and old reruns, the streaming giant has taken a step further, moving into the production of its very own Karen Read and John O’Keefe documentary.
The news comes hot on the heels of Read’s retrial, which began on April 1.

Netflix announced the three-part documentary on O’Keefe’s loss on July 19, 2024. For those unversed, on January 29, 2022, the Boston police officer was found unresponsive outside a Canton, Massachusetts home and later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Read, his girlfriend at the time, was charged with second-degree homicide, manslaughter while driving under the influence, and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Karen Read, who is the prime suspect, is facing her second trial. While the case is time-sensitive, here is how Netflix plans to treat it with its documentary.
