Netflix Just Used the Greatest Cillian Murphy Clip to Drop a Christmas Warning and It Is Not From ‘Oppenheimer’
It is that time of the year again! The streets are all lit up with Christmas lights, Santa Claus, snowmen, and reindeer statues. And streaming platforms, as usual, are trying to muscle in on the Hallmark action by churning out holiday movies, hoping to drop something that becomes the next big thing. But this year, Netflix took a different route to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, roping in one of Cillian Murphy’s most iconic roles.
While Oppenheimer may be the first role that springs to mind when discussing Murphy’s iconic performances after its massive success this year, there was another one before that had made Murphy a household name.

Netflix dropped a clip from Cillian Murphy’s Peaky Blinders from its third season on X, formerly Twitter. While Peaky Blinders typically leaned towards a dark and serious tone, it always had flashes of humor. One of the standout comedic moments was during Tommy and Grace’s wedding, where the Peaky Blinders comically attempt to be on their best behavior. Just before the reception, Tommy delivered a speech to the boys, emphasizing, “No fighting”.
A few moments later, Tommy slammed into a waiter and threw the man violently to the ground. Netflix used the clip of Tommy’s pep talk to the boys, captioning it as “Happy holidays”. This is one of those scenes from the show that one can watch over and over again. However, Netflix’s choice to use this clip could also be a strategic move as the OTT giant intends to expand the Peaky Blinders franchise.
Recently, a report suggested that the period crime drama is in the talks for branching out its storyline with spin-offs.

There have been persistent rumors about a movie adaptation of Peaky Blinders since the series wrapped up last year. According to Bloomberg’s latest report, Netflix is currently exploring not just one, but two potential spin-offs for the popular prime-time series. The first prospect will reportedly revolve around a shift to 20th-century Boston, offering viewers a glimpse into the storyline’s evolution several decades later. However, the nature of the spin-off remained under wraps.
The world was shaken by the unexpected departure of actress Helen McCrory, both on and off-screen. Following Polly’s demise in Peaky Blinders, Thomas Shelby found himself in constant internal strife. Now, with the failed attempt on Mosley’s life and McCrory’s absence leaving a void, there is a collective hope that Netflix handles the spin-offs with sensitivity.
