Netflix Chart Sees a Massive Shuffle as ‘One Piece’ Falls Down From the Top Spot While ‘Sex Education’ Soars High

The live-action adaptation of One Piece was arguably the biggest release for Netflix this year. Calling the Eiichiro Oda manga a hit would be an understatement. Shortly after One Piece premiered, the series took the world by storm, ending the curse of live-action projects on Netflix. However, after dominating the streamer’s charts for a while, One Piece has witnessed a slight downfall in viewership. 

The past few weeks have been great for Netflix. A plethora of hit shows and films made their way to the platform, garnering massive viewership. And the release of Sex Education season 4 recently is the cherry on the cake. 

One Piece falls down the Netflix charts as Sex Education soars high

One Piece has topped the charts ever since it premiered on Netflix on 31st August. The live-action series garnered over 18.5 million views in the first four days. In addition to that, it reached the top 10 in nearly 93 countries worldwide. However, with the release of Sex Education season 4, the Eiichiro Oda manga has fallen from the top spot. Impressively, the series was on top of the charts for nearly three weeks until recently. With its recent release window between the 18th and 24th of September, the teen comedy-drama has climbed to the top with its last season. 

Sex Education has garnered a whopping 12 million views within the first four days of its release. The series stands at number one on Netflix’s Top 10 English-language TV chart. Meanwhile, One Piece has not fallen one but two places, currently ranking third on the chart. Apart from the top three shows, season 5 of Virgin River stood in the fourth position with 4.9 million views. Interestingly, another documentary series, Inside The World’s Toughest Prison, peaked at number 5 with 4 million views. Elsewhere, Love Is Blind season 5 and Kountry Wayne: A Woman’s Prayer also made it on the list. Meanwhile, Netflix films did not see much of a disruption in rankings. 

What does Netflix’s top 10 film chart look like?

Netflix witnessed a series of great films make their way to the small screens over the past few weeks. However, the chart for top English-Language films remains constant despite massive availability. For the second time in a row, romantic Love at First Sight stands at the top of the chart. The Haley Lu Richardson and Ben Hardy starrer brought in 15.2 million views, making it Netflix’s most-watched title this week.

Following that, the second and third spots were held by Spy Kids: Armageddon and sci-fi classic In Time. Meanwhile, Nigerian thriller The Black Book brought in 5.6 million views following its debut. Interestingly, the top 10 charts saw You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah for the fifth time in a row.
