The movie follows a reopened missing person case after a woman is hit in the forests of Germany. However, she is not the only one there.

While trying to gauge the situation, investigators deem it most suitable for the little girl who followed the woman to answer their burning questions. Yet with each answer she gives, they only find their questions as well as concerns increasing. From a hostage situation to a curated kidnapping, Dear Child has all the cards to win.
