Netflix has recently announced that subscribers will have the opportunity to revisit the dystopian and post-apocalyptic world of Chicago by adding the Divergent film series to its library. Distributed by Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate Films, this movie series includes three science fiction films - Divergent, Insurgent, and Allegiant. The storyline follows the Divergent novels written by American author Veronica Roth.
The trilogy stars Shailene Woodley and Theo James, with a supporting cast that features prominent actors such as Ansel Elgort, Zoë Kravitz, Maggie Q, and Miles Teller. Kate Winslet played the main antagonist in the first two films. In total, the series grossed $765 million at the box office against a budget of $305 million. Despite its commercial success, Netflix's addition of the series is expected to increase viewership, given the streaming platform's wide accessibility.
This, however, is not the only captivating film series Netflix has added to its collection. Even in the horror genre, the streaming service has scored a win by adding the most celebrated film series of all time.
