Netflix has been on a roll with its recent releases. Nearly every project that returned to the screens with their new seasons or made their debut took the world by storm. However, one of the biggest releases for the year was the One Piece live-action series. Premiered back on August 31, the series ended the live-action curse for the streamer. Moreover, it set a whole new benchmark for the upcoming shows with its record-breaking numbers and viewership.

One Piece has turned out to be Netflix’s most successful outing this year, bringing in a huge wave of audience. Besides the anime fans, even the new viewers were in awe of the series. And recently, the Eiichiro Oda manga’s live adaptation gave Netflix an edge over its competitor, Disney.

The streaming war between multiple platforms has been going on for years now. After witnessing a decline in subscriber count, the top streamers have left no stone unturned to regain users. With top releases, the streaming platforms have been going head to head. However, recently, Netflix got an edge over rival Disney as the One Piece live-action series garnered a staggering 1.31 billion minutes of viewing in its United States debut week. Meanwhile, Disney’s hit show Ahsoka held this crown earlier, garnering 829 million minutes in its first week (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Sadly, Ahsoka fell after it enjoyed 487 million minutes in its latest week. The stats for the live-action series are immense, as 1.31 billion minutes convert to 21.85 million hours of viewing. In addition to that, One Piece contributes nearly 16% of the entire global views for the streaming platform. This is a huge accomplishment for Netflix when compared to other streaming platforms. Despite being one of the top-performing shows around the globe, the live-action series witnessed a fall in its ranking post the release of Sex Education recently.

One Piece undoubtedly deserves all the praise for its incredible adaptation around the globe. While the Eiichiro Oda series has been a huge success for Netflix, the classic legal drama Suits continues to contribute to the streamer’s success. As impressive as it may sound, Suits garnered a whopping 2.45 billion views on Netflix and Peacock.

Meanwhile, One Piece and Suits have been going head to head to become the top performers for Netflix. However, the live-action series could indeed become the top-performing show as the streamer green-lit a sequel for the show. The series continues to bring massive views even weeks after its release. In addition to that, the figures are only from the US and not from other countries. One Piece remains to be the top show in nearly 83 countries around the world.
