Netflix Announces Documentary on Life and Legacy of Basketball Legend Bill Russell
Netflix has a large number of fiction movies and TV shows. However, it also has some of the best non-fiction works of art available on any platform. Netflix documentaries are incredibly engaging and authentic and have some of the best directors working on them. Now the streaming giant is here with a brand new docu-biopic of NBA icon Bill Russell, and we are nothing except excited!

The former Bosten Celtics Great Bill Russell recently celebrated his 88th birthday. And what better way to celebrate the Titan on and off courts’ special day by announcing a Netflix documentary about him?

For those unaware of the everlasting legacy that Bill has created, Bill Russel is most commonly associated with Boston Celtics. However, what differentiated him from other star athletes is his extensive work as a civil rights activist.
The documentary will show unseen interviews from Bill’s life and will probably cover the athlete’s sportsmanship days as well. It will also include President Barack Obama awarding him with the Presidential Medal of Honor. Needless to say, fans will get a great insight into Russell’s life.
Sam Pollard is directing the film with Larry Gordon, Ross Greenburg, and Mike Richardson acting as Producers.

We recently saw Sam directing the HBO MAX Citizen Ashe. Pollard is a celebrated director whom Spike Lee has complimented in numerous occasions by calling the director a “Master Filmmaker.”
Title of the documentary?
The documentary is yet to be titled, but we are sure Netflix will release news about the title, trailer, and a tentative release date soon!
