Close on the heels of Stranger Things season five resuming filming, Netflix had flagged off another Millie Bobby Brown production in the form of the movie, Damsel. After nearly three months of the official teaser, the first trailer of the flick debuted early on February 13, 2024, showcasing a few key glimpses along with the tone of the movie. The narrative hints at the tale of a woman who gets forced into a situation like a damsel-in-distress, but instead of relying on her Prince Charming, she takes it upon herself to set loose from the situation.

The official synopsis has Brown’s character marry a prince only to find herself the subject of a ritualistic sacrifice. After being thrown into a cave, also home to a fire-breathing dragon, she relies on her instincts and works on her abilities to survive and make it out alive. Alongside its theme of woman empowerment, the movie will also radiate strength and a sense of awareness for young girls and women with a message that they can pretty much achieve anything solely by themselves.

At 19 years of age, Millie Bobby Brown has migrated beyond the confines of Stranger Things and even Hollywood, for that matter. With her own skincare brand charting success all over, her leaving an impact on a movie focused on breaking feminine stereotypes should hardly come as a surprise. Netflix’s Damsel revolves around and borrows from a screenplay by Dan Mazeau. Furthermore, a book of the same name, released after the screenplay by Evelyn Skye, also served as a guiding light.

Following the release of Damsel, Millie Bobby Brown will still star for Netflix alongside Henry Cavill for Enola Holmes 3 and the last season of her Hawkins fantasy. Soon after, she would take on the big leagues with a mainstream Hollywood debut alongside Chris Pratt in The Electric State, slated for a 2024 release.
