An eager fan recently reached Neil Gaiman on his Tumblr account asking for the new batch of episodes The Sandman has in store for viewers. In his response, the English writer revealed that the writing phase has been completed. Moreover, they are gearing up to shoot the first episode of Season 2. This news has come as a ray of hope for fans who were concerned about the show for a long time.

Why won’t new episodes of The Sandman be called “Season 2”?

In an interview video posted on Twitter, Mason Alexander Park who plays Desire in the dark fantasy series confirmed the shooting will start this summer. The actor stated that the upcoming season will cover many cool things in different ways. “We’re starting shooting in the summer, and we’re gonna tackle the next huge chunk of stories in however long that might take,” Park explained.

According to CBR, in the same interview Park revealed that the streaming giant does not wish to refer to the renewal as Season 2. They said that the cast members will probably not call it another season, just new episodes. The surfacing reports are suggesting that the creators will pick the “Brief Lives” story arc this time. Considering this part includes all the siblings of Dream including Destiny, Destruction, and Delirium. However, from the viewpoint of where the show left fans, it seems the Lightbringer will take her revenge on Morpheus.
