The 27-year-old English actress has quite a polar opposite real-life to what her character displayed on screen in the last season. Long before The Witcher landed her the role of Yennefer with a debut in 2019, she was eking her way out through small roles. In talks with The Stage, Anya Chalotra revealed that the Netflix fantasy breakthrough played a pivotal part in shaping her life. The Witcher has opened so many doors for me,” Chalotra admitted. Moreover, she also agreed that “My life is very, very different now.”

Previously, she helmed the role of Jennifer Ashman in the 2018 British Netflix series Wanderlust. Alongside she also acted in stage plays for Much Ado About Nothing and The Village. However, her outing opposite Henry Cavill’s Geralt is what truly shot her up to fame as she gained popularity enough to become a household name. Boasting a transformation arc that lifted her from a hunchback to the most powerful woman in The Witcherverse, Chalotra is hopeful that this very role will open even more doors for her.

Coming off as a humble persona, Anya Chalotra was aware of her skills, yet was doubtful of her newfound role in The Witcher. In earlier interviews, the actress had revealed feeling “overwhelmed” in the company of A-listers on the sets of the show. Moreover, she had never read any of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, nor had ever laid her hand on a Witcher video game. Thus, a feeling of nervousness stood warranted.

In time, the actress developed a stellar working relationship with Cavill and also had a character arc that outlived his. Additionally, with season four on the tow, she now has an even bigger role to play throughout the series. Standing as the most powerful sorceress, Chalotra’s acting prowess will now be on full display.
