Ortega recently opened up about the Latino aspect of the character she played on Wednesday. She expressed her joy at the fact that her family in the show was Boricuas. Moreover, Jenna Ortega said with full confidence that the reach her character has got is way more than any other Latin character has ever done. Adding more to it, she said, as mentioned by DiscussingFilm’s Twitter handle, “Most Latin roles are stereotypical, the daughter of the cartel and the housekeeper.”

This statement made by the 20-year-old raised a lot of questions about the portrayal of Latin heritage in the American film industry. And it is not just that Ortega made a sensational statement, it also goes around the fact that a lot of people were agreeing to her in the comment section of the tweet.

While she felt proud when she shared her strong opinions about Wednesday’s representation as Latina, this is not the first time she has said that.

It was creative and thoughtful of the makers to cast a person of the same ethnicity as the character. She once mentioned in an interview that she was proud of herself for representing her culture through the character of Wednesday.

Ortega’s statement about the representation of Latino characters in the film industry is a subject of discussion. If her advice is taken seriously, there are chances that we get to see strong Latino characters in TV shows. She will soon appear in the second season of the highly anticipated show.
