Millie Bobby Brown and Netflix have a relationship set in stone, or so fans thought until The Electric State was released on March 14. Despite cashing in on star power and a coming-of-age plotline, The Electric State has struggled to leave a mark since day one. Although several projects gradually pick up momentum in Tinseltown, time has not exactly been the best friend of the Russo brothers this time. As a result, just when fans thought it would not get any worse, The Electric State joined the ranks of two major Netflix missteps.
While Brown and Netflix have maintained a cherished bond, The Electric State’s clubbing in the hall of misfires seemingly puts a dent on it.

According to a recent report by What’s on Netflix, The Electric State starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt debuted at #1 on the English movies charts in the first week of its release, and was featured in the weekly ones of all 93 countries. It garnered 25.20 million views, becoming the ninth most popular title on IMDb MovieMETER. While not much has changed in the second week, The Electric State now has 47.70 million views, falling right between the Rebel Moon films.

The Electric State experienced an 11% drop in viewing hours as it now stands in the middle of Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire and Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver. Both the films by Zack Snyder were considered underwhelming, and with Brown’s movie sitting in between, it looks highly unlikely for The Electric State to position itself on Netflix’s all-time Top 10, except for a last-minute spike in viewership.
Though The Electric State already debuted on Netflix with a horror number and so far, it has continued the streak, Millie Bobby Brown has exciting new projects in the pipeline to ensure the audience does not fall short of thrill pills.
What is next for Millie Bobby Brown after The Electric State?
With Netflix getting its ducks in a row to bring the story of Upside Down full circle, Millie Bobby Brown is strapping herself in for the Stranger Things finale in 2025. However, that is not all she has planned this year. The Thing About Jellyfish will see Brown portray Suzy, a young, emotional girl who is on a mission to find the truth about her best friend’s mysterious drowning. Meanwhile, Enola Holmes 3 is also buckling up for production, likely launching on Netflix by 2026.

Brown is also ready to build more suspense with The Girls I’ve Been. Starring as con artist Nora O’Malley, she uses her abilities to outsmart dangerous criminals during a hostage situation. While a confirmed release date remains under wraps, it is expected to drop sometime in 2025. Therefore, Brown has a list of high-stakes projects awaiting, and The Electric State should not be taking away the electric mood just yet.
