Millie Bobby Brown Chokes Up While Giving Her Heartfelt Graduation Speech as ‘Stranger Things’ Wraps Up
Millie Bobby Brown is one of the highest-paid actors in the industry today, but it was Stranger Things that turned her into a household name when she was just 12 years old. The cult sci-fi/horror series gave the world a group of young, wide-eyed actors who quite literally grew up on screen over the span of almost a decade. Yet, no one from the cast quite broke out the way Brown did. Now, with the Netflix hit series coming to an end, Brown made it very clear that bidding farewell to the show is not going to be easy for her.

Millie Bobby Brown recently posted a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos from Stranger Things. From her very first table read during season one to candid moments from season four, Brown pieced together her journey through a handful of pictures. And just to tug at our heartstrings a little harder, she included a clip at the end. In the clip, Brown was visibly teary-eyed as she gave an emotional speech, presumably on her last day on set. She started by reflecting on how graduations are usually a relief.
Students are "glad" to say goodbye to their teachers and classmates. “Not me,” Brown declared. “I am not ready to leave you guys,” she admitted, her voice trembling with emotion. The actress went on to pour her heart out, telling every single member of the Stranger Things family just how much she loved them. By the end of her speech, the cast and crew erupted into cheers and applause, probably wiping away a few tears themselves. Interestingly, this was not the first time Brown has compared the show’s ending to graduating from high school.
The last time Brown did it, however, her perspective was a little different. Brown seemed completely ready to move on from Stranger Things.
When Millie Bobby Brown 'thought' she was ready to say goodbye to Stranger Things
As the face of Stranger Things since the very first episode, Millie Bobby Brown has spent nearly a decade playing Eleven. And while it is no doubt bittersweet to say goodbye to the show, she seemed more confident about moving on when she spoke with Women’s Wear Daily last year. “It’s like graduating high school; it’s like senior year,” the now 20-year-old explained.

Although Brown was "grateful" for everything the show and its creators, the Duffer Brothers, had given her, she admitted that it felt like the right time to move forward. “It’s time to create your own message and live your own life,” she said. But judging by her emotional speech on set, Brown's rational mindset did not stand a chance when faced with the reality of leaving her Stranger Things family behind for real.
