Probably not, because you are not the kids in Mike Flanagan’s Guinness World Record-winning horror Netflix series, The Midnight Club.

Flanagan once again proves if there is someone who can make the most ordinary of activities into a brilliant horror mystery thriller masterpiece that could get the world talking, it is him. After The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass, Flanagan brings to us a Netflix series about teenagers inside Rotterdam Home hospice who like telling spooky stories at midnight. The ten-episode-long Netflix series is sure to blow you away not just with its jump scare but also the fear-inducing brilliant horror screenplay.

What is Michael Flanagan’s new horror show about?

The Watcher, The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself, and Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3 are among a few of Netflix’s spooky Halloween decorations this year. And looks like The Midnight Club is the scariest pumpkin carving out there. The show is set up in the 90s when Yahoo was the preferred search engine and the heavy television with a keyboard was the latest technology.

The series has Michael Flanagan’s trademark on it as he has contributed as both the showrunner and producer of the series. It is based on Christopher Pike’s with the same name. And we all saw in Gerald’s Game how Flanagan can pull wonders when it comes to a book-to-movie adaptation.

The series follows Ilonka, whose plans to go to Stanford get interrupted by a thyroid cancer diagnosis. This leads her to a hospice called Brightcliffe, where she meets more kids like her. Contrary to the name and the kind smiles of the doctors, the hospice is anything but.

The series directed by Mike Flanagan and Leah Fong stars and is also aimed at young adults. The plot of the show, albeit scary and full of jump scares, will be easily brushed off if you are a horror fanatic. But if you are a young adult or just testing the waters in the horror genre, then this one is definitely for you. With brilliant performances by the cast and a layered storyline, the show is definitely Netflix’s best horror release this year.

This is why it doesn’t come as a shock that it has scored a Guinness World Record. If you have watched the series, then you already know for what. The Midnight Club has scored a Guinness World Record for the most jump scares in a single episode.
