Meghan Markle Once Spoke About Being “unable to afford” Their Six-figure Worth Montecito Mansion

Although the independent royal couple now owns a huge stretch of extravaganza in the hills of Santa Barbara, it did not come free to them at all. In the infancy of their troublesome life together, both of them could only dream of owning such a bungalow. The infamous Megxit had left everyone shattered and the couple too also took its time to settle down.

Previously in the fall of 2022, the Duchess of Sussex sat for an interview with The Cut where she revealed their journey of accomplishing their endeavors, slowly but steadily. Also to mention, it was a promotion for her then-upcoming Podcast Archetypes, which proved to be another smash hit for the Sussexes.

Nevertheless, as Meghan Markle narrated in the interview, they were actively looking for houses outside of the United Kingdom as their residence. According to her, it did come in their online searches but the couple just wanted to pay it a visit as they ”didn’t have jobs”. “It wasn’t possible,” said Markle expressing how they were reluctant to buy such an expensive house. She described the feeling as, “I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford, that doesn’t feel good“.

However, following their withdrawal from their UK Sovereigns, the Duke and the Duchess played hardball to doing everything they can to make that house theirs. In the course of it, they also got their hands into various multi-million projects with media giants like Netflix and Spotify. The Netflix deal alone has fetched them a massive fortune with Spotify’s Archetypes winning the People’s Choice Award for the year 2022.
