Season 1 of Bridgerton focused on Daphne, the eldest daughter of the Brigderton household. Daphne remained the protagonist and the Diamond of the season. Season 2 of the show focuses on more female characters. We will now see Mary, Kate, and Edwina Sharma- the family that is here to win the hearts of the fans and suitors alike in Bridgerton season 2.

Lady Mary Sharma

According to Shondaland, Lady Mary Sharma knows the ton and the marriage season all too well. She belongs to a line of British aristocracy that was scrutinized by the people she lived with when she left her former life for a common man in India.

Knowing the people of the ton and their restricted mindset, but also wanting the best for her daughters, Mary continuously faces a dilemma. The theme of love versus duty has been a persistent one in the series. From Simon and Daphne to Anthony and Sierra, we have seen couples and characters sacrifice their happiness for their duty time and again in the Netflix series. But, when given the choice, Mary chose love.

We see Mary in the Netflix Original after her husband has passed away, and she still is mourning him. Despite being a good mother, she isn’t able to look after Edwina very well and the duty then falls on Kate.

Kate Sharma- the new lead of Bridgerton season 2

Kate is the step-daughter of Lady Mary Sharma and is Edwina’s step-sister. However, she loves them both endlessly and is even quite protective of Edwina, as we can see in the trailer of Bridgerton season 2. After the death of her father, Kate’s mother was in mourning and she found herself the only person left who could take care of Edwina. Although her intentions are good, Kate can be overbearing and dominating at times.

Although Kate is technically “on the marriage-mart”, she deems herself too old to find a proper match. This wedding season in the ton, Kate is all set to ensure her sister Edwina is married to the right person.

Edwina Sharma

Period dramas have set the bar extremely high for sisters that are just too perfect. In fact, their only fault is that they are too kind and, hence, can be naïve at times. Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice has Jane, Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women has Beth March, and Bridgerton has Edwina Sharma.

Edwina is a young girl who has grown up in a loving family. She is kind and genuine and only wants the best for everyone. Despite her age and the dynamic she shares with her sister and mother, Edwina can be very wise and mature for her age. Edwina is also going to be the diamond of the wedding season of Bridgerton.
