The Duke and the Duchess are at it in partnership with the streamer to recreate the couple's iconic 2022 run with their six-episode tell-all bombshell docuseries Harry & Meghan. Among their upcoming projects, their adaptation of Carley Fortune's novel Meet Me at the Lake has shown significant progress.

As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle strive to make the most of their Netflix partnership, the author has made public the status of production of the adaptation.

According to an interview with TV Insider, Carley Fortune expressed her excitement about the adaptation of her novel Meet Me at the Lake by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's production company for Netflix. “I’m so thrilled about it,” she stated when asked about where things were with the production right now. She further added that she is eager to share some more when the time comes. 

Carley Fortune sounded “excited” about the project's progress, hinting that things are moving in a positive direction. She mentioned that she is "enormously grateful" and happy about the partnership. Although she did not give any major scoop, her enthusiasm suggested that the adaptation is shaping up to be something special. This update came as a respite after the couple received a disheartening update on their Invictus Games docuseries.

Later in the interview, Carley Fortune described it as "surreal" when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle expressed interest in adapting her book. She further added that she was deeply touched by their interest, as the book had been a challenging write, with Fortune struggling with imposter syndrome and postpartum mental health issues during its creation.

Carley Fortune's book tackles tough subjects like grief, mental health, and finding one's path in life. She was grateful to have her work recognized in such a significant way, given the personal struggles she faced while writing it. Netflix acquired the rights to the novel for $3 million, with the movie to be produced under Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell Productions deal with the streaming service.
