Liam Hemsworth Has Officially Stepped in for Henry Cavill as Geralt Images From ‘The Witcher’ Season 4 Surface
In October 2022, the Continent teemed with a never-seen-before sense of heaviness when Henry Cavill announced his leave from The Witcher. But with time, the eeriness subsided as lightened the heavy heart with the arrival of a fitting predecessor to the mantle of Geralt of Rivia with Liam Hemsworth. As the filming kicked off recently, a string of praises lined up for Hemsworth owing to his co-stars, but what was left to witness was a first-hand look at his new avatar.
After a prolonged wait, it now appears Hemsworth has officially taken the sword in hand, as the first look of images from the sets has emerged.

Redanian Intelligence recently rolled out a series of Liam Hemsworth’s pictures from The Witcher 4 sets after having tapped them last week. It seemed that Geralt was revisiting his fight with Vilgefortz from the previous season. However, this time, instead of Henry Cavill, it was Hemsworth. Reportedly, this is the introductory scene of Geralt in the upcoming season, in which the legendary fight between Geralt and Vilgefortz is being lensed through differing accounts.
After Cavill left the mantle empty in 2022, The Witcher team made up their mind to explain this switch with a scene from the book. As per the pages, the new installment will prefigure a futuristic glimpse into a century where the Witcherverse has transitioned into a legend. The story will be carried forward by Stribog, a bard, who narrates it to a group of children, including Nimue. Hence, the recreation of this fight possibly comes from the idea of inculcating different versions of it.
During the fight sequence, another detailed material attests to this concept that The Witcher is recreating scenes to initiate a smooth transition from Cavill to Hemsworth.

According to the storyline, which aims to explain the transition from Liam Hemsworth to Henry Cavill in The Witcher 4, the children, during the legend narrated by Stribog, offer several versions of the fight between Geralt and Vilgefortz. Stribog corrects these versions, each time presenting a more accurate portrayal of Geralt with montages. This likely explains why Hemsworth was seen wearing Geralt’s armor from season 2.
It is unclear, however, if this footage will be used to depict Cavill’s Geralt as an incorrect version of the legend or simply to explain the actor switch. Additionally, photos show Anya Chalotra on the set, but it is uncertain whether she was filming a new Yennefer scene or participating in the reenactment. However, one thing is certain: Hemsworth has officially taken over the role of Geralt, but even then, the imprints of Cavill need revisitation to explain the newly mounted mantle.
