Liam Hemsworth Finally Breaks Silence on His Getting of 'The Witcher' Role After Henry Cavill
Liam Hemsworth certainly has some pretty big shoes to fill. However, the actor's silence since he was cast in The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia has not helped ease fans’ suspicions about whether he can truly do justice to the character. There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding whether Hemsworth can replace Henry Cavill, whose name has become almost synonymous with Geralt of Rivia since he first took on the role. Thankfully, this recent interview with Hemsworth should help clear up some of those doubts.
Hemsworth seems to have a good handle on things, and he certainly has not jumped into the role with just a surface-level understanding.

Liam Hemsworth on LIVE with Kelly and Mark show recently opened up about The Witcher. Unlike Henry Cavill, Hemsworth was not as steeped in The Witcher lore, having only played the games about a decade ago, which he called “one of the best video games of all time.” However, before taking on the role, Hemsworth made sure to dive into Andrzej Sapkowski’s books and catch up on the Netflix series.
Hemsworth also discussed the filming schedules. He shared that they have been shooting over the last nine months, and he had been on set in Wales for two weeks. Talking about the weather during those shoots, Hemsworth said the first week in Wales was all “beautiful sunshine, blue skies,” but by the second week, it felt like “tornado season.” After that, The Witcher team headed over to England to continue filming.
Liam Hemsworth also touched on the fifth and final season of The Witcher and its ongoing production in the same interview.

Just after Liam Hemsworth's takeover, it was reported that The Witcher will end with its fifth season. And now, the newest addition has revealed that after wrapping up in England, they will take a four-month break before filming Season 5 for another eight months. This puts the production schedule from March to October 2025. Nonetheless, with the show ending, Hemsworth might not have to carry as much weight as the writers and producers can now focus on bringing the series to a proper conclusion instead of dragging it further.
One of the biggest gripes that fans had with The Witcher was that it seemed like the writers were setting up multiple storylines for potential spin-offs instead of building toward one epic conclusion. And now that problem can be avoided. So, whether fans love or hate Hemsworth, the fact is the series will end after Season 5 either way. Still, Hemsworth seems to be well-prepared to carry Henry Cavill’s legacy forward.
