And from what the leads have been teasing, it looks like Season 3 is going to make even bigger waves. 

Kit Connor and Joe Locke recently shared what fans should expect from Heartstopper season 3, and there are going to be some major shifts.

There has been a lot of curiosity bubbling up among fans for the third Heartstopper season. This was pretty obvious from the frenzy that erupted when Netflix asked fans to fire away their questions for the third installment last year. Now, Kit Connor and Joe Locke have come to the rescue of fans. In an interview with Tia Kofi at Netflix HQ, Connor teased that the heartwarming rom-com will dive into some “darker themes” this time around.

Heartstopper Season 3 will also be maturing with a lot of “s*x,” according to Kit Connor and Joe Locke, which also explains why the third season would be rated M for mature audiences. The actors emphasized the uptick in intimate scenes, saying it “plays a big part” in the third season. This shift from a light-hearted queer romance to a more complex, grown-up story was something Kit Connor had already hinted at earlier this month.

Connor also gave some insight into how they warmed up to shooting the intimate scenes for the upcoming season. 

Kit Connor, in a recent interview with The Sunday Times, gave a behind-the-scenes look at his experience filming intimate scenes for the first time in the series. He highlighted the careful approach taken during these moments, now that the actors are stepping into more personal territory. "We’ve been taking baby steps,” said the English actor, as the show is gradually getting more intimate.

This shift from mere hand-holding to baring it all speaks volumes about the growing closeness between the characters. Connor also cheekily mentioned that they "shot the s*x scenes for about seven hours”. Heartstopper Season 3 is about to hit the small screen on October 3, and all eyes are on the series to see the new twists and turns it has up its sleeve.
