In the Netflix docuseries, Prince Harry accused his brother Prince William and sister-in-law Kate Middleton of being jealous of his wife. The Duke revealed that the heir to the throne planted fake stories about Meghan Markle in the media. The Prince of Wales could not digest the public’s immense love for Markle and felt threatened by her. 

As per Prince Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton were not the only ones to get insecure from Meghan Markle. In his memoir Spare, the Sussex royal has claimed that his father King Charles felt overshadowed by the former American actress and thus refrained from providing her with royal privileges. The prince also pointed out that his wife reminded his father of the late Princess Diana. How the monarch tried to suppress the Suits alum?

King Charles was jealous of Meghan Markle 

In Spare, Prince Harry revealed that his father refused to take care of Meghan Markle’s expenses. King Charles told his younger son that he did not have enough money for the former American actress as the monarchy was already paying for him, Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, the California-based royal could not digest the explanation. He believes that the then Prince of Wales felt that Markle was gaining more limelight, just like his first wife, the late Princess Diana. 

“Pa might have dreaded the rising cost of maintaining us, but what he really couldn’t stomach was someone new dominating the monarchy, grabbing the limelight, someone shiny and new coming in and overshadowing him,” The Duke of Sussex wrote in his book as per Page Six. 

Further, Prince Harry also clarified that King Charles did not do any favor to his sons by finally supporting them. It was a part of his job as the Duke and Prince William agreed to serve the crown and be in the cage all the time. Notably, the Sussex royal is now living an independent life in California. He and his wife Meghan Markle are making their own money thanks to their deals with Netflix, Spotify, and Random House Publications.
