Will Smith is one biggest actor in the industry today. Throughout his career, he has given countless hit movies and shows. The Men In Black actor has cemented himself as one of the greatest actors of our generation. As we all know, before making it big in Hollywood, Smith was enjoying a successful career in the hip-hop industry as well. On another side of the spectrum, we have another popular individual Mariah Carey.
The Songbird Supreme is an incredibly popular musician and songwriter. The Fresh Prince and the Queen Of Christmas go back a long way. Both started their career simultaneously as they struggled to carve a niche out for themselves. Not long after they met in 1988, the two became household names in the mid ’90s. And previously, a throwback picture of the two surfaced online, and the internet went frenzy.
Mariah Carey and Will Smith in 1988
Mariah Carey and Will Smith are two very popular pop culture icons both in their own right. Back when the industry wasn’t as welcoming for minorities and amidst all the struggles and adversities, the two formed a strong bond that withstood the test of time.
Their duo first met when Smith was one half of the hip-hop duo along with DJ Jazzy Jeff, while Carey was a backup singer for Puerto Rican star Brenda K. Starr. And after a throwback picture of Smith and Carey back in 1988 surfaced online, the fans had a hilarious reaction to it.
While some fans started comparing Carey with Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, others called Carey adorable. One fan even took a hilarious jab at Smith in reference to his Oscar slap gate as he wrote, “Keep Mariah’s name out of your f***in’ mouth!”
Interestingly, Carey even opened up about Smith in her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey, where she spoke about her friendship with Smith and how it started. Previously, in 2018 the All I want for Christmas is You singer even took to Instagram to post an adorable picture with Smith.
It is not known whether or not the duo still maintains the same bond today. However, it does not matter much since the two of them were there for each other during their tough times, and that is all that matters.
