The Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex have carved out a niche of their own with the latter’s being more prominently known as the Meghan Markle Effect. Markle has perfectly epitomized the blend of American flair into the landed aristocracy’s Palace-befitting lifestyle. However, Middleton gave her some tough competition over the years.

Bringing back the time when both the royal women made their royal Ascot debut, although years apart, there have been some similarities between the outfits chosen by the two. Nonetheless, the seemingly remarkable differences have what made the two set the trends of their own. While Meghan Markle walked hand-in-hand with Prince Harry for her first royal horse race event in the year 2018, Kate Middleton had her first just a couple of years ago, in 2016.

For the event, the Duchess channeled her favorite Givenchy into an alluring solid white dress with raised collars at the neckline. They made the dress all the way to the ankles with layered wavy patterns at the hem. Complimentary to the same, Meghan Markle wore a stylish white hat by Philip Treacy. She elegantly accessorized the headwear with a couple of black extensions and a black net at the terminal part of the hat.

Two years prior to Markle’s debut, Prince William’s wife Kate Middleton made her first royal appearance in the royal horse race. Surprisingly enough, she also donned a beautiful and eye-soothing white dress, which can be called a classic Middleton choice. She looked chic with her all-time favorite white lace Dolce & Gabbana round-neck dress with a cream headpiece by Jane Taylor.
