Is Kanye West the American Dieudonné? The singer is famously disliked for his controversial statements. Most recently, not only did he criticize members of the Jewish community, but also started praising Hitler. It attracted him a lot of criticism, to the point of many luxury brands, including Adidas, Balenciaga, and GAP, breaking relations with him.

While the anti-Semitic rhetoric has existed for centuries, there are always a few personalities that bring a new wave, keeping the hatred alive for new generations. Ye is one of them, and his opinions have spread across different countries. Now French speakers are comparing him to their own anti-Semitic speaker Dieudonné M’bala M’bala.

Why is Kanye West being compared to French political activist and speaker Dieudonné M’bala M’bala?

Kanye West is getting more fame, but it is mostly for the wrong reasons. France has their version of West that they have been dealing with for decades: Dieudonné M’bala M’bala. M’bala is a comedic turned anti-Semitic personality known for spreading propaganda against the Jewish community.

As per the Washington Post, the common trait in both West and M’bala’s narrative, is their use of European Christian antisemitism teamed up with false narratives by Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. In fact, the former French comedian refers to himself as the French Farrakhan. What is worse is that being people of color, West and M’bala are claiming that Jewish people are trying to control black people.

When their narrative is opposed, they tend to claim victim status. Both began with the message of anti-racism in their country. While the French comedian picked the left political side of anti-racism, he eventually turned to criticize Jews. Despite both their views and their disappearance from the mainstream media, their views garner attention, proving the power of anti-Semitic rhetoric.

For France, it led to the rise of interethnic issues, even a fight between East and West African communities. Kanye West who supported Donald Trump in 2016, had both sides of parties distance themselves after his hateful narrative. What remains is the fact that these personalities have the power to influence younger generations and instill a hateful narrative against the Jewish community.
