Oscars afterparties are equally eyed upon as Oscars red carpet appearances of celebrities flaunting their lustrous looks. Academy Awards are hands down, the most glamorous events in Hollywood and for cinema globally. Thus, everybody wants to get a piece of the pie at this stage. Nonetheless, afterparties’ invitations are no less as they are presided over by the likes of pop stars like Kanye West and now ex-wife Kim Kardashian.

The 2020 Oscars afterparty caught a lot of attention as the then couple was joined by the Kardashian-Jenner clan. It was more of a family affair for the duo. The gala party happened at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, which also saw Billie Eilish, and Timothée Chalamet hanging out with each other, as per the publication.

How did Christmas gifts overtake the afterparty when Kanye West and Kim Kardashian walked in?

Interestingly, the dresses that the ex-power couple wore to that party were their Christmas gifts to each other. The vintage Alexander McQueen Oyster dress that Kim glammed on was gifted by Ye to her on Christmas. It is one of the only two such luxury dresses ever made from McQueen’s 2003 collection. Although she had to lie down in the car for her dress not rip or pop, it was worth it for the TV star. She posted a video of herself and said in her Instagram story, “it’s worth it — I’m a queen”. The chain necklace that Ye used to glitter up his all-black look was also a Christmas gift by Kim to him. Magazines like GQ even said that Ye could have won Oscars for the leather suit he styled during the Vanity Fair afterparty gathering. They dubbed it “extremely luxurious #bigfitoftheday”.

Vanity Fair conducts one such afterparty every year. However, this year was not the same. At the 95th Annual Academy Awards afterparty, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were nowhere to be seen. But Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner both graced the occasion.
