Julia Garner and her other hit on Netflix after the crime-drenched thriller series, Ozark, has been the center of news controversies for a while now. The star is currently a world-renowned icon who has marveled at every project she ever had. However, some of them fall into the unlucky quagmire of disputes and heated disagreements. One such project was her Tv series, Inventing Anna, which portrayed the life of the Russian fraud, Anna Sorokin.

Recently, an article in the New York Post read that a friend of Anna Sorokin has sued the American streaming giant for the fake heiress. There are a lot of heated debates and court trials regarding this and other cases filed against the same series. Many of them have not been resolved yet. And with this new lawsuit, the air of apprehension has grown even thicker.

Inventing Anna starring Julia Garner is causing even more legal troubles

The tv series starring Julia Garner is now in a complete mess. Rachel DeLoache Williams, a former Vanity Fair staffer and erstwhile friend of Anna Delvey, filed a lawsuit against Netflix. The suit was charged with defamation over her portrayal in the series inspired by actual events. According to her, many of the instances from the series were overly exaggerated and fictitious. William also claimed that nearly everything about her character in the Netflix show was made up.

The lawsuit states that the show consists of 16 defamatory statements about the former Vanity staff. “Netflix purposely used my real name, and real aspects of my life, to create a totally false and defamatory characterization of me,” Williams told the Hollywood Reporter.

Netflix has portrayed William as a greedy and snobbish person whom Anna bribed in the form of generous gifts and extravagant vacations time and again to get her work done. While in reality, this was never the case. William had suffered heavy liabilities and losses because of Anna Sorokin’s numerous fake promises and lies.

Nevertheless, the truth matters, and portraying real people requires real responsibility. On top of that, Inventing Anna is not as simple as it seems. It contains severe complications and plottings that need proper screenplay. Especially when the trials against the real-life character are still ongoing, and the courts have not tied any ends yet.
