After Ozark and the complicated character he played in that show, Bateman has taken on a full-on villain role in his new Netflix project, Carry-On. Unfortunately, his storyline wrapped up in the first part of the show itself. But there is still a chance he might make a comeback in the sequel.

Here is the main reason why Jason Bateman’s iconic Traveler might re-appear in a Carry-On sequel—if it ever happens.

At the end of Carry On, The Traveler, played by Jason Bateman was seen dead—locked in an airtight fridge with half of the Novichok. But Bateman’s performance as the villain was so good that it would be a missed opportunity for the makers to not bring him back in some way. Whether it is through a flashback, a surprise appearance, or maybe just a little cameo, fans would eat it up. We still do not even know his character’s name. There is so much more mystery to unpack, and the makers could easily tease us with a little more in a potential sequel.

What made Bateman’s character stand out even more in the Netflix flick was that he was not your typical evil villain stereotype. Bateman himself told The Hollywood Reporter that he does not have that “hardened criminal-looking kind of guy”, and he was happy the filmmakers did not try to shove him into that box. Instead, they let him play the villain as "just a guy” doing his job. And that was what made him so watchable. The writer of the latest Netflix show recently reflected more on Bateman being the perfect fit for the role.
