James Gunn Takes Inspiration From the Boys for DC’s Newly Announced ‘The Authority’
Fans have been patiently (not) waiting for James Gunn to drop the lineup for the new DC. Apart from the excitement to see what the future of DC looks like fans also needed closure after what happened with Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and basically the majority of the Justice League. Finally, James Gunn confessed about a passion project that will be a part of the DCU: Gods and Monsters and it is definitely not what fans expected. For the unversed, the easiest way to understand The Authority is to imagine the Justice League except the heroes have a broken moral compass. And, if you look into Gunn’s previous projects such as HBO’s Peacemaker is not something he has not experimented with. A lot of original DC junkies are also left confused about Gunn’s upcoming project. “I don’t know how many of you are familiar with The Authority WildStorm characters. WildStorm was a comics imprint that was bought by DC that I really love, we’re moving a lot of these WildStorm characters into the DCU,” Gunn told Collider.
Much of the fandom’s take on The Authority is that they are a team of superheroes who have not read a page from the book of the law. And if they have, they do not care much for it.

Despite this being one of Gunn’s passion projects, it is unclear when we will get to witness it. The new co-CEO of DC has expressed how he’s “working all the time“, especially on the outline of The Authority. If Gunn’s new project is anything like The Boys, then DC is already headed for a bright future.
