Zack Snyder may yet not have reached the ranks of Steven Spielberg or Martin Scorsese, but he sure has made a loyal fanbase. The man made his name with hard hitters like 300, and Man of Steel. The director has also delved into the undead, Shaun of the Dead, and horror comedy, The Army of the Dead.
Although most popularly known for his work in the DCU, Snyder had once wished to release a religious movie or work on pornographic content. Considering the tone of his SnyderVerse, we do not think his religious and pornographic films would have had a very light or happy tone.
Zack Snyder regretted not making a religious and pornographic film
Back in 2021, when he had just released his version of the Justice League after many fan requests, he sat down for a chat with The Daily Telegraph. Snyder got really honest during the interview and expressed his desire to once film a porn tape or a movie based on religion. But he never had the chance to do either. In fact, he hoped he could mesh the two genres in 300.
“I’ve always wanted to make a religious movie and a pornographic movie, and I’ve never had the opportunity to do either,” he had revealed. He wanted to combine the different genres into one single movie after he penned 300’s sequel. Additionally, some viewers found the flick borderline pornographic.
Turns out Justice League was not his first clash with Warner Bros. The two have butted heads before and over the sequel of the action flick. He had envisioned a gay love story for the sequel. However, Warner Bros put a stop to it. Zack Snyder was even ready with the script. It was supposedly a gay movie in the backdrop of a war.
The same fate could have been meted out to Justice League, if not for the fans’ protests. The cast and the fans both pushed Warner Bros to release Snyder’s cut. Currently, he is gearing up for the release of Rebel Moon. Warner Bros had long disagreed with Snyder’s vision of the DCU. And hence now it’s making drastic changes like kicking Henry Cavill to erase all aspects of SnyderVerse.
