“It’s so Fkin sick”: Cillian Murphy Fans Are Furious Over Snubbed Emmy Nomination for Peaky Blinders

Emmy Awards 2022 has just announced its nominations. All the popular shows from Euphoria to Ozark that occupied our free time have gotten a nomination. You can even find many Emmy favorites on this year’s list as well like Andrew Garfield and Laura Linney! Euphoria Sydney Sweeney also scored a nomination for the first time. Netflix series, Squid Game touched another milestone with 14 all total nominations at the Emmys! And the marquee event has also given a nod to the Marvel series – Loki, Hawkeye, and Moon Knight. However, amidst all this Buzz one particular name is missing – Cillian Murphy. Fans have lauded Murphy’s acting in Peaky Blinders but it has flown under the radar of the awards committees. Now they have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment.

Cillian Murphy fans rage over the actor’s snubbed Emmy nomination

In a recent Twitter post before the official Emmy nominations were announced, fans named favorites. Names like Sadie Sink, Antony Starr, Oscar Isaac, Millie Bobby Brown, John Cena, etc cropped up. However, none mentioned the Irish actor Cillian Murphy. Same with the official nominations list which had every big actor’s name on it except for him.

The Emmy’s skipping the most talented yet “underrated” actor, astonished the fans.

The Twitter user further hinted at his disgust at the industry for not recognizing people for their talent and hard work just because they didn’t take part in Hollywood’s publicity events.

Purely dedicated to his art, the actor is quite reclusive and very rarely appears in interviews or talk shows. Others also pointed out that it’s a popularity contest now and one even speculated that actors buy their nominations!

Jason Statham almost played Tommy Shelby

Murphy gained critical acclaim with his turn as the kingpin of a criminal family in Birmingham on Peaky Blinders. But he almost lost out the role to Jason Statham. After fierce competition and some persuasion, Murphy got the coveted role.

The show concluded after nearly running for 9 years. But it isn’t the end of the scheming Shelby family – there’s a movie in the works.

I don’t believe Peaky Blinders was eligible this year because it debuted in the USA after 5/31/22.
