Stranger Things has been on our screens for almost a decade now. From the moment the show debuted on Netflix, its young cast shot to fame, becoming some of the most high-profile preteens in America and beyond. Well, not all of them, perhaps, as one cast member has often been said to be somewhat sidelined since Season 2- Noah Schnapp- although nothing in the sci-fi horror story would have unfolded without him. Now, that actor is saying his goodbyes to a filming location that marked the beginning of this decade-long journey.

Noah Schnapp gave fans a tour of his beloved Castle Byers, getting a bit emotional as he walked down memory lane.

Noah Schnapp posted a video from the sets of Stranger Things season 5. It was on their last day with Castle Byers, the makeshift fort Will and Jonathan Byers built in the forest near their house. Schnapp was clearly moved as he gazed at the little pictures stuck on the walls of the fort, reminiscing about his time filming there with his on-screen mother, Winona Ryder. "It’s sad to say goodbye," said the 20-year-old.

Schnapp went on, "It’s like a home to me." The Hubie Halloween actor explained that Castle Byers was one of the first places he filmed on the show, making the farewell especially “sentimental.” And this was not the only time Schnapp got emotional about leaving Stranger Things. In fact, he was the one who shed the most tears during the season 5 finale table read, as David Harbour revealed last month on the Happy Sad Confused podcast’s 10th-anniversary celebration. Schnapp himself also opened up about it.

Noah Schnapp opens up about the emotional toll of leaving Stranger Things

Noah Schnapp has been working on Stranger Things since childhood, and it is hard to believe how far he has come. Ahead of his role in the psychological thriller The Tutor, Noah Schnapp sat down with Collider for an interview where he shared that filming the final season of Stranger Things was going to be “bittersweet.” “I first started when I was 10, and now I’m, like, an adult. So, it’s crazy,” said the actor.

Schnapp went on to admit that he will be “crying” and “upset” when he finally wraps up filming on the show. But despite the tears, he is also “excited for what the future holds.” With so many emotions running high as the Netflix show draws to a close- as Schnapp himself teased earlier this year- the show began with his character, and it is only fitting that it will end with him, too.
