Ryan Reynolds and his fascination with football were quite visible when the Hollywood A-lister bought an entire football team with co-owner Rob McElhenney. But was he professional enough to decide the correct team for himself? The two stars got the Wrexham AFC together the previous year, in 2021. It turned out to be one of the most successful decisions they made in their lives by far. There have been regular promotions with an entire show to boost up the team. But did you know what actually backed the stars to buy the club?

Although both the stars are avid football enthusiasts, the actual reason behind the pair choosing Wrexham is something else. While all of us think it must be a joint decision between the sought-after celebrities, it was a third party who actually got them going. 

Who helped Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney buy the Wrexham team?

The Executive director Humphrey Ker recently shared that it was actually the Football manager who pushed Reynolds and McElhenney for Wrexham. As reported by the Mirror, the duo was about to settle down with a “lower league.” Even the possibility of them taking over any football league heavily relied on their luck when they had first decided to buy a team together. But with Wrexham, “it has been a brilliant relationship so far,” said Ker.

After surfing the internet, we now know that the person we are talking about is Phil Parkinson. He has been bestowed with the Outstanding Managerial Performance award and is currently serving as a professional football manager. According to Ker, there were many other clubs that the duo was looking forward to. 

Some of them were Hartlepool and Macclesfield, which they had thoroughly considered. However, it was Parkinson who inspired them to look higher and select the best of all. That is how both Hollywood stars ended up choosing Wrexham out of all. Presently, while other owners of such English teams are subject to criticism, Wrexham has been forever moving forward with its promotions.
