“It was me admitting to something..” – Billie Eilish Gives a Walkthrough of Her Popular Song, Everything I wanted
Billie Eilish and her innumerable records are at an all-time high. Some of her albums are known for the level at which her fans resonate with her lyrics. But did you know it is just not fans, but Billie, herself, who finds an escape in her own writings? The seven times Grammy titleholder has been going through some unimaginable distress that the world did not know about.
Yes, you read it right. The Ocean Eyes singer has reportedly confessed the way she likes her lyrics and how it connects with her real-life struggles. She also mentioned how her songs have a deep-seated message for her depression and the ugly mental health conditions that she once faced. Although some songs explicitly convey the message, here are some of her works that have much more to them than what meets the eye.

One of her high-rated tracks, Everything I Wanted, is a perfect example of how reality is entirely the opposite than what is portrayed on social media. Speaking to Times, Billie opened up saying, “it was me admitting to something that was very serious about my depression.” In her own words, she considered it a very serious step that she planned to take.

She narrated an instance about her daily activities added to the song in the most impeccable way possible. As the story goes, Eilish was sitting with her head under water, which suddenly struck a chord in her mind. That is when they decided to frame the line, “I tried to scream, But my head was under water”.

Finneas also shared his experience while working on the song. In an interview with Zane Lowe, he revealed how he had built up the song. He expressed, “…A lot of songs are written in retrospect, but this one felt like it was being written in real-time.” The songwriter further explained that, unlike most of their works, he had left Billie alone with this one.

Some reports also mentioned that Billie had just begun to write the lines as a coping mechanism, all of it owing to her uncontrollable depression. However, little did anyone know that the stories she once weaved in her bedroom would one day become the entire world’s bedtime playlist.
