Andrzej Sapkowski, the author behind the beloved fantasy series The Witcher, has recently teased some details about his upcoming book set in the same world. The Polish author is soon to be back with a new story set in the ‘Witcherverse’ after more than ten years after his last book, Season of Storms, in the series. After all, it will be interesting to note the characters that will be introduced or how will it fit into The Witcher’s existing timeline.

In a chat with Ukranian fans by Fantastic Talk(s), as translated by Redanian Intelligence, the author revealed the upcoming book is not a continuation of The Witcher series, nor a prequel or spin-off. Sapkowski has described it as a “surprise”. The author has chosen to keep its details under wraps. Moreover, he also mentioned that he is working on his project “quite diligently.” While the new book takes place in the world of The Witcher, it doesn’t revolve around Geralt of Rivia or any of his companions. Sapkowski expressed his desire to delve into aspects of the world’s history, introducing fresh characters and locations for this story.

On the book’s release date, Sapkowski stated that “It may take a year, but no longer.” He emphasized that he prefers writing at his pace rather than rushing through the process. Furthermore, Sapkowski expressed enjoyment in writing this book and hopes that readers will derive equal pleasure from reading it, too. Additionally, he shared that research and consultations with experts have played an important role in shaping the narrative.
