Netflix’s collection of horror and gore has always been pretty limited and mainstream. However, one cannot really blame the streaming service, as the inflated demand for this genre in Hollywood has led to an active market for bad horror movies. Nonetheless, lately, the OTT giant has been upping its hair-raising content by not only licensing some of the best gore fests but also producing original offerings. One of the most talked-about horror television series in recent times has been Rolin Jones' Interview with the Vampire.

Is the critically acclaimed show of 2022, which recently released its sequel, available on Netflix, though?

Netflix is bringing a curated selection of AMC shows to its library in August of this year. While Interview with the Vampire has been available for streaming on AMC+ and for Amazon Prime members who have AMC+ as a premium channel in their subscription, the first season of the show will now also be available on Netflix starting August 19. The series is coming to its new home as part of the recent Netflix deal for the first seasons of 13 AMC series.

Interview with the Vampire is based on the gothic fiction novel by Anne Rice, The Vampire Chronicles, and stars an ensemble cast including Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Eric Bogosian, Bailey Bass, and Assad Zaman. The show's first season became the best-reviewed horror series in 2022 with a 98% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the arrival of the show on Netflix has come with one disappointment.

Before AMC secured the rights to the late Anne Rice's body of work, Interview with the Vampire was adapted into a film in 1994, starring Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise as the leads. This movie was also part of Netflix and was added to the streaming giant in 2022, just before the premiere of the AMC adaptation. However, in April of this year, the Academy-nominated movie was removed from Netflix’s library along with a bunch of other Brad Pitt movies.

This will, however, be refreshing for those Netflix members who want to examine how the 28-year gap between the film and the new series has changed the franchise. This includes the difference in periods of the two adaptations, along with the rework of major characters in the show. Nonetheless, even though the film no longer exists on Netflix, the AMC deal will provide the much-needed vampire fix for gothic horror fans in just a month.
