With a treasure trove of superhero source material that has shaped childhoods and the people we turn out to be, fans are heavily invested in their modern-day interpretations and adaptations. That’s why the MCU and the DCEU are not only the most loved but also the most picked apart. Also, where there’s an expansive cinematic universe, there’s bound to be some drama around it. The most recent being the one involving Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and our beloved Superman, Henry Cavill.
Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam DC Universe
The recently released DC flick, DC League of Super Pets received admiration from fans and critics alike. The animated film featured flagship DC characters, but the movie starred their pets. While The Rock voiced Superman John Krasinski’s dog Krypto, Kevin Hart portrayed Bat-hound to Keanu Reeves’s Batman. Although the movie had its moments and was overall well received, the post-credits scene did not sit well with the audience.
The scene in question teased the Black Adam movie as fans caught a glimpse of Anubis, Black Adam’s pet dog. Black Adam, animated as, and voiced by Johnson, also showed up. If that wasn’t enough, The Rock even posted and captioned the final scene on his ever-active Instagram account.
“THANK YOU for making SUPER PETS the #1 MOVIE… but did you stay til the VERY END credits… You guys already know how I feel about SUPERMAN vs BLACK ADAM… the Indestructible Force meets the Immovable Object.”
While the post looks harmless on the surface, it angered the avid fans greatly. the altercation between Superman and Black Adam has been teased enough in the past few months. Fans expected a proper return of Henry Cavill, which wasn’t obviously explicit in the scene.
Fans believe Henry Cavill should change his manager
Avid supporters of Henry Cavill and his Superman have been (im)patiently waiting for the Man of Steel to make his comeback on screen. While The Rock voiced many characters in the Super-Pets, his live-action debut as Black Adam is yet to grace the silver screen. There was hope among the fans to even see Cavill’s cameo in the Black Adam film. But with only smoke and absolutely no fire in the form of an official report has been a major letdown.
Moreover, Dwayne Johnson’s comment regarding the Black Adam DC Universe has sent the fans into a downward spiral. There’s conjecture that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Deep Involvement is hindering Henry Cavill’s much-anticipated homecoming. The audience even urges Henry Cavill to change his manager, who is a common link between the two stars. Fans theorize that the shared manager might be biased toward the former WWE champion and perhaps Cavill’s DC future might be in jeopardy.
Is there any truth to these fan speculations? Only time will tell. In the meantime, we sincerely hope that we see The Witcher make a smoking return to the DC Universe as well.
