Millie Bobby Brown may be ready to move past her breakthrough role of Eleven on Stranger Things, but her upcoming flick: Damsel will see her in another plot rooted in the exceptional strengths of her character. Since the moment she joined the production of Damsel in 2022, her fans have eagerly awaited the fantasy thriller. Now, Netflix has turned up with an early Christmas present in the guise of a glimpse of the movie to come. 

Yesterday, the OTT giant finally dropped the first teaser for Damsel. When it appeared on its X (previously Twitter) page, fans flocked for a peek into its plot. Centered on the story of a princess’ coming of age arc, Damsel is a modern twist in the age-old tale of ‘save the princess’. The two-minute-long clip shared by Netflix showcased the Enola Holmes actress as the princess making her way through an intricately dangerous cave.

Just like her role in Enola Holmes, Millie Bobby Brown’s Damsel character is no ordinary girl. Rather than awaiting a prince to swoop in for a conventional rescue, she places her faith in her intellect to find an escape route. The scenes featured in the clip look similar to the leaked behind-the-scenes shot of the film that appeared on Instagram earlier. The protagonist’s sheer determination is reflected in perfection through Brown’s remarkable acting. 

Many fans took their jubilation at setting eyes on the teaser and relayed it through the comments. The majority of users were thrilled, and could not wait to catch the movie upon its arrival.

Earlier this year, the movie’s release was pushed back to 2024 because of delays caused by SAG-AFTRA strikes. This had crushed the hopes of many fans. Then, Netflix dropped the poster for the flick to erupting applause from fans last week. Now, the new teaser has certainly re-lifted the spirits of those who were dismayed because of the late launch. Some marveled at the “intrigue and vibes” reflected in the cinematography. Meanwhile, others reveled in its cast’s acting. 

Netizens were thoroughly impressed by the Stranger Things star. Some were excited at the prospect of seeing Angela Bassett in it, too. 

Brown’s fans could not hold back their pride at seeing the demand for her. Especially since she seemed to have nailed this part so well.

Now that the streaming giant has officially dropped a teaser, the rising apprehension amongst fans is palpable.
