‘Inauthentic’ – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Get Called Out by Nelson Mandela’s Granddaughter
After a bombshell docuseries, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released another project on Netflix called Live to Lead. Inspired by the great South African leader Nelson Mandela, the documentary graced the screens on December 31, 2022. The show focused on the principles that help world leaders in creating an impact.

The initiative supported by the Nelson Mandela Foundation featured a handful of inspirational leaders. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle collaborated with the likes of Bryan Stevenson, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Jacinda Ardern, Greta Thunberg, and others for the high-profile project. Though the seven-episode series fetched great reviews from the viewers, it left Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter Ndileka Mandela unimpressed.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle accused of using Nelson Mandela’s legacy
Ndileka Mandela brutally lambasted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for using Nelson Mandela’s legacy to fulfill their personal gains. She claimed that neither the prince nor the former American actress ever met her grandfather properly. However, they are using his quotes and philosophy to lure the viewers. Notably, the documentary forms a part of Sussexes’ $100 dollar deal with the American streaming giant.

“Harry needs to be authentic and stick to his own story, what relevance does grandad’s life have with his? They are using his quotations in the documentary to draw in people and make millions without the Mandela family benefiting,” the social activist said, as mentioned by Sky News.
Though Ndileka Mandela is upset with the Duke of Sussex for using Nelson Mandela’s name to sell their show, she lauded him for standing up against the royal family. The 57-year-old admires Prince Harry’s confidence and courage in calling out the wrongdoings in Britain’s oldest institution. Meanwhile, she also advised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to carve their own path and fund their life by themselves.

Notably, a few days back, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern had also separated herself from the series. Ardern shot for her part in Live to Lead in 2019 before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s association with the project.
