A female film artist in Kentucky decided to join a forum where fellow artists connected and shared their ideas. She dropped a message on the online artist forum and invited fellow creators for a fruitful collaboration. Following this, a man named DK MH posing as the actor who played Billy Hargrove on Stranger Things contacted her. Their relationship blossomed, even though she was suspicious of his identity. As they got closer, the catfisher posing as Dacre Montgomery confessed his relationship problems.
Lo and behold, the Kentucky women’s kindness let her shell out a total of $10000 to help with his money issues. The catfisher then went a step ahead and manipulated her to divorce her husband on the terms of “not letting me be me.” The woman trusted the online friend because her relationship problems were quite similar to his girlfriend controlling his money. A divorce later, the single mom continued to give money to untraceable accounts until the “Romance Scammer” was caught.
The woman confessed, “I’m obsessed with Stranger Things.” She had a very kind message to others who suffer from low self-esteem and advised them to not fall prey to such scammers. This is not the first time someone fell prey to catfishing.
