Even though Meghan Markle is an integral part of the British Royal family now, she has had her fair share of rough days. And from those days come the most embarrassing and hilarious stories of the actress’ life. The best part is, Meghan does not feel shy and shares them with full enjoyment, even though she is a synonym for poise now. On November 18, 2021, the actress made an appearance on The Ellen Show. There, she told the story of her iconic car from her struggling days.

Meghan Markle had a plan to save herself from embarrassment

Life was not easy for Meghan Markle at the beginning of her career. She taught bookbinding and did freelance calligraphy in between acting gigs to make ends meet. The actress compared her drive on The Ellen Show to the time when she used to come to the same set for auditions. She mentioned that the guards on the set would always wish her the best. Back when she was still struggling, as she spoke on the show, she owned an old Ford Explorer Sport, which she used to go to auditions in. She said that the car was very special to her.

However, as she mentioned, after a point, the keys to the car’s driver’s side stopped working and she could not get in through that door. So she used to open the car’s trunk every time she wanted to get in and climb up to her seat while shutting the trunk behind her. And to save herself from embarrassment, she used to park at the end of the parking lot.

The immediate counter question Ellen asked was what did she do when that happened and if anyone saw her doing that. “No no, I’d play it off. I would go, ‘oh, just looking for my resume and my highlighters for my script,'” the Duchess of Sussex revealed.

Meghan mentioned that it happened way before she got cast in Suits. In 2018, after her marriage to Prince Harry, she became a royal member. Today, the Duchess can get an army of chauffeurs and can drive any car she wants. Just imagine what would have happened if she had given up.
